Lot Essay

The Annabel Lee Mine in southern Illinois, one of the two mines in the Harris Creek Mining Sub-District alongside the neighboring Denton Mine, produced remarkable fluorite specimens in a variety of colors over a short period from late 1984 to 1995. Of all the colored fluorites to come out of Annabel Lee, saturated yellows like this specimen were the rarest. The contrasting textures, colours, and lusters of the piece make this a rare delight example.
