Details
From the Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County. The large central cube features the rich purple, while the pale buff interior adds an inner glow to the specimen. A partial dissolution on the back of the main crystal reveals its changing chemistry as it formed and allows for deeper light penetration when viewing the lustrous and richly-textured face. The front face is dotted with dark purple residues of sulphide that add further interest to the surface growth. The fluorite sits attractively perched on the peak of a matrix covered in dolomite crystals along with several other smaller cubes and the occasional calcite crystal, providing a contrast to the piece and allows the fluorite to be displayed prominently and proudly.
314 x 3 x 112in. (8 x 7.5 x 4cm.)
