TWO INITIALS ‘M’ and ‘E’ on a leaf from a gradual [northern Italy, 15th century]
Two attractive decorated initials on a leaf from a gradual, a manuscript collation of the sung portions of the Mass: the initials, rendered in a palette of pink, blue and green set against shining gold grounds, open introits from the Common of Saints.

422 x 291. The ‘M’ begins ‘Mihi autem nimis’; the ‘E’ begins ‘Ego autem sicut’. Mounted.
