Lot Essay
The present specimen is a large example of the Chresmoda obscura which lived on the water up to 150 million years ago. From the fossil record, this species is known to have grown up to 6-inch long bodies.

In excellent condition. A pale, unobstrusive line in the repaired matrix, consistent with post-excavation preservation. The ammonite specimen coiled, also in a fine state of preservation. The matrix cut smooth on the edges for ease of display.
