On shaped oval domed base chased with panels of shells and scrolling foliage on a matted ground, the stem cast and chased as a kneeling Native American with feathered headdress and with his hands upraised to support a detachable later English Marquess' coronet, the base engraved with later inscription GAGE D'AMITIÉ 17 Janr 1828, apparently unmarked

拍品專文

The coronet is likely to be from a tipstaff used at the Coronation of either King George IV of England in 1820 or his successor, William IV in 1830, and presented to Charles Stewart (1778-1854), 3rd Marquess of Londonderry.
