This group echoes the silver-gilt centerpiece made for the Duke of York by Edward Farrell in 1824 likely to celebrate his role as Commander-in-Chief of the British army. This centerpiece was most recently sold in the sale of the Collection of Robert de Balkany, Rome and Cote d'Azur, Christie's, London, 22 March 2017, lot 200 for £1,037,000.
