This model of ewer was based on a 1775 model supplied by John Flaxman for Wedgewood. Made for both wine and water, Wedgwood produced the ewers in jasperware in limited quantities in the late 18th century and in black basalt throughout the 19th century.

The 1905 pair with very strong gilding and gilding refreshed, the 1910 example with quite pale gilding and slight wear to high spots and marks, overall good condition, good gauge.
