In George II style, of vase form, on a spreading shaped circular base elaborately cast and chased overall with rocaille, monsters and foliage, the two open double-scroll handle terminating in dog heads, the stepped domed cover similarly applied with rocaille, flowers and vacant cartouches, the finial formed as a pointed cluster for fruit and shells, marked left of handle and flange of cover

This cup and cover is modelled after one made by Lewis Pantin, London, 1744/45. The Pantin cup and cover is illustrated in Rococo Art and Design in Hogarth's England, The Victoria and Albert Museum, 1984, cat. entry G22, p. 116. It is currently in the collection of the National Trust, Anglesey Abbey, England.
