Second edition of "a work of vast erudition" (Sabin). Of this work, describing García’s first-hand experiences in America, Charlevoix wrote “all that has ever been imagined as to the origin of the Americans, and the manner in which this New World was peopled, is gathered here.” It is particularly noted for its detailed exposition on theories of the origin of the Native peoples of the Americas. The first edition has only appeared at auction twice in the last 50 years. Sabin 26567.
