KOTH, Carlos (1807-1892). Réhabilitation de la chirurgie dentaire.Paris: Aubusson and Kugelmann, 1859.

Author’s presentation copy to Empress Eugenie. Carlos Koth was a Swedish dentist who practiced all around the world, from Paris to Argentina, eventually settling in Spain (to which country he claims to have introduced the use of chloroform). Coincidentally, Empress Eugenie would later flee the invading Prussian army with the help of her American dentist, Thomas W. Evans.

Octavo (152 x 99mm). Contemporary green morocco gilt, with gilt arms of the Second Empire, silk doublures (front board and first few leaves detached). Provenance: presentation inscription from the author to the Empress.
