Sammelband of Versailles festival books, depicting celebrations and performances at the court of Louis XVI. "The folios in these magnificent illustrated books were paper monuments that packaged and gave permanence to ephermeral events for the delectation of future readers of viewers" (The Edible Monument). Les Plaisirs de l'Isle Enchantée records a week-long festival of lavish meals, designer carriages in procession, and performances by artistic luminaries, all nearly ten years after the events took place. This sammelband contains the prints only for Plaisirs and Divertissemens, with the text and prints of the Relation. Watanabe 1916 and 1924; The Edible Monument pp. 37-46.
