Darwin supports a faculty application. ‘I have written by this post to Sir John Lubbock, telling him how highly I think of the work which you have done; but more than this I could not do as I have no idea what the duties of the Registrar are’; an autograph postscript, dated 30 January, notes that Darwin has ‘since heard from Sir J. L. who says that he will see that your claims are fully considered’.

On 21 January, Moseley wrote to Darwin asking if he would help support his candidacy for a registrar position at the University of London by raising his case with the Vice-Chancellor Sir John Lubbock.
