Lot Essay

GB scored 99 and 112 in a man-of-the-match performance at Port of Spain in 1974, as England won by 26 runs. He used this bat to make his second innings century. John Jameson, the Warwickshire batsman, played in 4 Tests and 3 One Day Internationals for the West Indies between 1971 and 1975. GB borrowed this bat off Jameson as he had broken his last remaining tour bat in scoring 99 in the first innings (see preceding lot, where the damage to the middle is visible). GB went on to use this replacement to make another century for the MCC against Bermuda.
