Lot Essay

Although the Rest of the World won the fifth Test by four wickets, Boycott made 157 despite having bowlers the calibre of Mike Proctor, Graham McKenzie, Garry Sobers, Eddie Barlow, Intikhab Alam and Clive Lloyd lined up against him. As he relates, it was "an innings which earned me £250 and the Lawrence Trophy for 'the most valuable innings by an English batsman in the 1970 series' (Autobiography, p.97).
