Lot Essay

GB scored 62 and 80 not out in the Test Match between England and the West Indies at Port of Spain in 1968. This match is famous as the scene of Sobers' declaration. The West Indies captain made a curious decision to declare when his team were well on top and on the way to a draw on a docile pitch. Declaring left England needing 215 on the final afternoon which they knocked off with 3 minutes to spare.

By contrast, the contest at Port of Spain in 1974 saw the West Indies triumph by 7 wickets despite a partnership of 209 between GB and Denis Amiss in the second innings. GB socred 6 and 93 in the match.

The fifth Test Match of the 1968 series saw Jeff Jones and Alan Knott battle to a draw with England 9 wickets down. The match saw a 150 for West Indian Rohan Kanhai in the first innings. GB scored 116 and 30.
