Lot Essay

Julian Krupa was a popular illustrator in the pulp magazine Amazing Stories and Brosterman states that this drawing was indeed published there. Brosterman also points out that "robots could not compute in the pre-computer 1930s, and in the drawings of Julian Krupa gauges are conveniently located on the robots' chests for quick and easy reading" (p. 61).
