The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The flat woven surface remains secure throughout. There has been significant discolouration in the ivory ground which has occurred either from being placed on the floor or perhaps next to an open chimney breast. The dark grey markings may improve with a professional clean but it is unlikely that they would disappear completely. There is a circular stain in the upper left hand corner in the border, measuring approx. 6cm. in diameter and a few smaller, minor spot marks elsewhere in the border but these are less significant. The carpet is lined with a material that is intact but is beginning to come away on one side and needs securing. It is probable that this was originally woven as a pair to have been placed between open windows or beside glass mirrors but has since been separated from its other half.
