The cases with losses to the gilding overall, some with extensive flaking and losses to the edges, particularly to the two cork mounted examples.
One of the cork mounted examples with break to the glass and two cracks - which would benefit from removal and replacement - this is not visible in the catalouge image.
The bone Spanish printed and hand coloured fan:
Overall fairly good.
Minor tearing and lifting to the folds.
The painted decoration with losses and foxing.
The bone and gilt decorated handle with cracking, losses and discolouration.
The Ivory Italian painted fan:
Minor tearing and lifting to the folds.
The ivory discoloured and with build up of dirt and dust and with some minor breaking/cracking.
Has slipped in frame and would benefit from securing.
The Ivory possibly Dutch fan:
With tears and lifting to the folds overall, particularly to the right hand side.
The decoration worn and with some lifting to the paper.
The gilt decoration rubbed and the ivory discoloured.
The giltwood printed fan:
Good overall condition.
Minor lifting and tearing to the folds and gilt edged borders.
One larger loss to right hand end.
Some loss to decoration and definition overall.
The glass has slipped and requires resecuring.
