The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This carpet is woven in the style of French Aubusson carpets of the late 19th century. The needlepoint is woven in four panels joined along the vertical axis. The majority of the gros-point remains in good condition although there are minor signs of old moth damage in one far side panel at one end where the structure is revealed beneath. There are a few other small spot marks on the surface and an overall light surface dirt, all of which should improve or be removed completely following a light professional clean. The carpet is backed with a material lining for support. Overall this carpet remains in fair to good condition.
