Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In overall good condition. With the inevitable knocks, marks, losses, scratches and shrinkage cracks, consistent with age and use. The plate, as stated original, with foxing and losses to silvering overal;, but centered to top left edge and vertically to right side. As stated re-gilt, the current gilding dark and dirty overall, and would benefit from light cleaning. Rubbed in places revealing dark bole and clay in places. Some areas of flaking and shrinkage to carved elements, particularly to the scrolls to the cresting. The oval simulated-jasperware plaque with losses to decoration and showing bare timber to one side and around the edges. Probably with refreshments to the decoration overall. Otherwise highly decorative, structurally secure, and ready to hang.
