Lot Essay

"We would like you to do Arab Horses.." is how Diana Vreeland started her letter to Lord Snowdon on 24 February 1966, asking him to photograph Arab horses for the 1966 December issue of Vogue, and went on to say "I am sure you know a great deal more about all this than I do, and that it will all be very simple for you -- and we know that your pictures will be glorious".
