The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
- The first rectangular box (insects) has cracks to the corners and edge of the cover with some associated losses and restorations, as well as some surface wear as may be expected.
- The elongated box has one gilt-metal handle missing, some small chips, cracks and wear.
- The stacked container has various cracks to the cover and associated repairs and some small chips along the rims, as well as some wear overall to the lacquer.
- The Rimpa-style box has some wear to the inlays, some cracks and damages due to age and use.
