The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
The seated bodhisattva:
- Only traces of the gilding remain.
- The figure is missing its mandorla.
- There are splits running around the waist with associated dents where the figure has been knocked.
- The figure leans forward and sits unevenly on the base.
- The nine-character inscription reads "Da Qing Qianlong geng zi nian jing zao".
- The bodhisattva is 7½ in. (19 cm.) high
The figure of Shoulao:
- There is a missing section of robe measuring max. approx. 1 x 0.5 cm.
- The figure is 3 in. (7.6 cm.) high
The figure of a lady:
- There are small losses to the lower edge of the robe.
- The figure has a later added screw attachment to the base.
- There are three pinholes to the bronze in the base.
- The figure 7¼ in. (18.4 cm.) high
The dragon fitting:
- There is some rubbing to the gilt.
- This is a section of a larger fitting.
- The fitting is 5¾ in. (14.5 cm.) wide
