The rectangular box with overhanging cover decorated in gold hiramaki-e and yellow-glazed porcelain inlays against a black lacquer ground, with flowers and leaves, the interior cover decorated in gold hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and inlays of pink-glazed ceramic and lead on a black lacquer ground with a long-tailed bird perched among branches of flowering camellia, the interior tray with similar camellia, with copper water-dropper and slate inkstone
