The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- with 20-30 mm. margins on three sides, trimmed into the subject above (approx. 5-7 mm.), with an added margin.
- the sheet backed with thick simili-Japan paper.
- a curved surface scratch at the upper sheet edge to the left and a diagonal rubbed line at centre right, mainly visible in raking light.
- a pinhole in the subject at centre right.
- some pale foxing and staining in the subject.
- with a soft vertical, central crease, mainly visible in raking light.
- two short creases, with some associated rubbing in the text in the lower margin.
- some minor creases in the subject, mainly visible in raking light.
- a small paper loss, backed, in the upper left margins, and a short backed tear just below it.
- a pale stains and remains of old adhesive around the joint between the original sheet and the added margin in the upper right margin.
- some tiny holes, thin spots, surface rubbing and discolouration in the margins and sheet corners in places.
- some pale staining, foxing and minor surface dirt in the margins.
- other smaller defects.
