The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In addition to the catalogue description:
- with 15-20 mm. margins on all sides, the left sheet edge slightly irregular.
- various minor creases within the subject, mostly visible in raking light.
- some pale, unobtrusive pinpoint foxmarks in the subject and margins.
- pale light- and mount staining in the margins.
-pale brown finger marks at the lower sheet edge.
- some creases at the sheet corners.
- the erased inscription visible (but not legible) as indentation, mainly in raking light, below the plate edge at lower right.
- inscribed with the letter G in the lower right margin.
- showing the printed lines strongly in relief verso.
- the upper sheet corners verso with some minor skinning where previously hinged.
- inscribed with the numbers 179 and 81 in a circle in pencil verso.
Otherwise as described and in relatively good condition for a working proof.
