Born in Seoul and now living in London, Alice has always been drawn to decorative arts and craftmanship that allows the natural beauty and character of its materials to remain visible. In this work, light passes through the fabric and brings its texture, structure, and delicacy into focus.
What may appear Mondrian-like at first is actually rooted in jogakbo, a traditional Korean form of patchwork quilting. Alice grew up with a mother who practises traditional Korean craft and often sat beside her as she sewed. Making this piece brought her back to those shared moments and to the quiet rhythm of spending time together.
Alice graduated with a BA in Design from the University of the Arts London in 2024.
