Lot Essay

Luz Maria Osorio’s work is born from a lifelong dilemma: two worlds, two countries, and at times, two versions of herself. She has long been divided between two passions that once seemed incompatible: her life with horses in her South American homeland and her devotion to art in Europe.
Photography became the bridge. Through the camera, she found a way to reconcile the parts of herself that once felt at war. It allowed her to portray horses not merely for their beauty, but as vessels for her emotions, dilemmas, and inner landscapes. The horses in her work are not subjects; they are metaphors.

Luz Maria studied Fine Arts and holds a Master’s degree in Museology. Osorio is an online professor at Colombia University of Antioquia (UdeA), where she teaches Photography in the Art Market.
