Lot Essay

Hu Yongkai, born in Beijing in 1945, is currently a member of the Chinese Artists Association. He previously taught at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a painter with a unique style. He blends and is able to express the characteristics of the East and the West in his paintings, and skillfully combines the line beauty of traditional Chinese paintings with the colours of modern paintings. He creates a distinctive artistic style that is contemporary, with irreplaceable charm.
