Dedicated to Qingan and Jiade (Zhang Xinjia)

NOTE: Xie Bozi, whose given name is Baoshu, was born in Changzhou, Jiangsu. He was the eldest son of poet Xie Yucen and studied painting under Zhang Daqian and Zheng Wuchang. Xie Bozi and his aunt Xie Yuemei, and his uncle Xie Zhiliu are well-known artists.

NOTE: Qian Yueshi, a native of Changzhou, Jiangsu, was the youngest daughter of Qian Mingshan, the three famous Confucian scholars in the Jiangnan area in the late Qing Dynasty. In 1951, she studied painting under Zhang Daqian in Hong Kong and excelled in the flower-and-birds genre.
