    Inscribed by the artist

    NOTE: The recipient Xu Wenbo is the fourth wife of Zhang Daqian. After Zhang Daqian left China in 1949, Mrs. Xu Wenbo accompanied Zhang to live overseas for many years, taking care of Zhang Daqian’s life, and thus became an important creative theme and source of inspiration for the artist.
