FURTHER DETAILS
Takahashi Koho (1947–2000) was a prominent Japanese calligrapher and painter from Gifu, Japan. He began his artistic journey at a young age, studying under the esteemed calligraphy master Aoyama San'u (1912–1993). In the 1970s, Takahashi traveled to Taiwan for further studies, where he learned calligraphy from Li Putong (1918–1998) and seal carving from Wang Zhuangwei (1909–1998). In the late 1970s, he became the sole Japanese disciple of the renowned artist Zhang Daqian (1899–1983). During his stay in Taiwan, Takahashi Koho met many artists in Taiwan and formed strong friendships with them. They exchanged ideas and techniques in painting and gifted each other artworks.
