NOTE:
Mi Gengyun, also known as Zhao Xu, is native to Wushe, Jiangsu. Under the influence of his grandfather, who was a Chinese painting artist, he began learning painting landscape and figures at a young age. He was in the Chinese Art Society, and became acquainted with Hu Chaofan, Feng Chaoran, and other likeminded peers. In 1946, through Li Qiujun, he became a student of Zhang Daqian.
