FURTHER DETAILS
The present works are from the Family Collection of Dr. Cho Myung-gi (1905-1988), who was a renowned educator and scholar in Korea. Dr. Cho was the fifth president of Dongguk University. He had a close relationship with artists such as Pu Ru and Yu Youren, whom he met in China and Korea, and had constantly been gifted with their paintings and calligraphy. In March 1955, Mr. Pu Ru, together with Zhu Jiahua and Dong Zuobin, travelled to Korea to discourse lectures. During the trip, they visited Royal Palaces and Bulguksa Temple, etc. With Bulguksa Temple inscribed by Pu Ru in a calligraphic work from the present collection (Lot 61), it could be believed that Dr. Cho had accompanied the artist during the visit. The collection has been carefully preserved by the Family of Dr. Cho until today.
