Lot Essay

This work is inspired by the conspiracy theories that were aggregated in the Q movement. The figure design is inspired by the archetype figure of the Politician—a gray-skinned figure in a black business suit—and is "transformed" into a rabbit. It is a two-fold reference that points to the rabbit character in Alice in Wonderland and the terms familiar to the Q movement, including "rabbit holes" and phrases like "Follow the white rabbit". Gray rabbit wears a tinfoil hat, the shape of which recalls both the dunce hat and a KKK robe, with a photo cell with glowing Q and retro antenna broadcasting signals. Blood emanates from the hat, dripping down the face of the figure and onto the suit, signifying the malevolent nature of those ideas. We can see a badge with a letter D, pointing to Donald Trump. The figure's left hand holds a money bag with a "devilish" dollar sign, referring to the conspiracy grifters making serious money from peddling those ideas to the masses. A Nazi-like arm band points to the inherent right wing white supremacy ideas that are the core of those conspiracy theories. In his right arm we can see the red pill hammer—red pill being a term used to signify the process of implanting those theories—and the golden handle shaped like a cross signifying the fundamentalist Christian beliefs which are being promoted by the Q movement. We can see the Youtube log on a right shoulder, since that is the channel through which the bulk of the right wing radicalization happened. The figure wears a cape inspired by the US flag, with the upside down stars and FU (Fuck You) written, signifying the supposed patriotism which Q influencers are constantly cynically exploiting. Background simulates the "tunnel", a hole, with Matrix-like binary codes spinning as a sort of a spiral, creating a hypnotizing effect.
