Lot Essay

The reverse of this piece offers an insight into the printmaking process. The yellow channel screen has been exposed onto the back side, creating a shadow version of the image on the front. The areas that can be seen in yellow on the recto appear white on the verso, while the rest of the page had been darkened to a light tan. The same phenomenon can be seen on the reverse of lots 39 and 43.

This composition was printed in pink onto a pajama set by Lilly Pulitzer, which was featured in the June 1975 issue of Vogue.
