Lot Essay

The reverse of Zuzek's works offer a window into the screen-printing process. Once Zuzek's designs were selected for manufacture, other Key West Hand Print Fabrics employees would prepare the various screens. The back of this vineyard-themed design tells us that this piece would require two screens (representing the purple and black) and was traced by an an art technician named Carlough. Carlough's name appears on the reverse other Zuzek works as well, as do fellow technician Jean Fraught and Michael Ribera. The work also has small scattered pin holes left by the pins that held the watercolor in place during the printing process.
