Last year Dame Barbara returned to EastEnders to play her final scenes as Peggy Mitchell, she also voiced Mallymkun in Alice Through the Looking Glass.
She made her professional debut in pantomime at the tender age of 13. Her West End debut came two years later in a show called Love from Judy. She famously starred in nine Carry On films, where she played a saucy but loveable sexpot being pursued, usually by Sid James.
