Appreciating the Flowering Plum

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
- long horizontal creases across the scroll, particularly along the bottom, left and right edges;
- some light scratches to the silk throughout;
- visible areas of damage to the silk, especially in the top part of the scroll and near the bottom edge, as well as near the boat;
- some mild soiling, particularly near the bottom;
- it is in our opinion that this work is in overall fair condition.
