The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In addition to or in elaboration of the catalogue entry:
- trimmed to or just outside the borderline
- the lower left sheet edge made-up by 2-3 mm., the upper left corner repaired
- the sheet has been slightly rubbed
- two repaired tears at the lower left sheet edge (4-cm.), one at the upper sheet edge above David's harp (3-cm.) and other smaller repaired tears at the right sheet edge and at the the upper left margin
- a horizontal, flattened crease across the width of the sheet and a smaller flattened crease at the lower right corner
- traces of pigment on David's coat and at the lower left margin
- a few pale stains and occasional pinpoint foxmarks
- two paper hinges at the upper sheet edge verso
