Bust of an old bearded Man, looking down, three Quarters right
As stated in New Hollstein, the difference between the second and the third (final) states of the etching is the cutting down of the plate at right by 11 mm., removing the last two digits of the date. As the present sheet has been trimmed into the subject at right, it is not possible to conclusively determine the state of the etching.
However, it is our opinion that the present impression is likely to be of the second state, due to the presence of the s-shaped scratch, visible in the second state and apparently not present in the third.
