The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- trimmed to the subject on all sides
- with the usual horizontal drying central crease, broken, flattened and repaired
- a 24-cm vertical central, flattened crease
- several small made up areas, mainly in the lower part of the sheet
- a rectangular area (40 x 32 cm.) of backboard staining, slightly showing through recto
- other smaller repairs at the lower corners and along the sheet edges
- old remains of paper hinges at the upper sheet edges
