Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall good condition commensurate with age and use. The shade is nicely dichroic--the color of the glass appears different when light is reflected (the lamp is turned off) versus when the light is transmitted through the glass (the lamp is turned on). When turned off, the glass in the shade is a mottled, deep blue-ish green; when the lamp is on, the glass turns more orange, with deep orange at the top of the shade, turning lighter orange, then green near the bottom. There is a very small area (two tiles across) that is very slightly indented (between two of the orange lozenges); there are two cracked pieces of glass, but these are tight and stable.
The base has a matte greenish patina and would benefit from a thorough cleaning. Two small screws are missing where the light cluster connects to the standard. The base is very heavy. The bronze heat cap is old and appears original top the lamp.
