A native of Trinidad and the island's most accomplished nineteenth century artist, Cazabon was schooled in England from 1827 to 1830. His first pictures date to his return to Trinidad in 1830 prior to his departure to Paris to study art in 1837. He spent ten years in Europe, based in Paris, and exhibited a dozen canvases at the Salon between 1839 and 1847, mostly French and Italian landscapes and marines, before returning to Trinidad in 1848.
