The presentation inscription reads 'TO AUNT MATILDA IN APPRECIATION OF YOUR KIND HOSPITALITY TO THE OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS OF THE UNION OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA JANUARY 25, 1953', surrounded by twenty facsimile signatures.
