The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The painting support with a wax lining; frame abrasions to the extreme edges; overall with some surface soiling; extensive fine craquelure throughout; a few minor pin-point losses; under natural light areas of touch-up visible along edges, particularly to the top and left edges; there are three repaired tear lines, one extending down from the left edge near 9:30 o'clock and running through the third ship from the left, one vertical and starting above the mountains above the French ship and the third slightly curving at the clouds in the sky at right; a few small spots of in-fill to sky and other tiny touch-ups. The painting was viewed under UV light and the aforementioned condition issues were confirmed, as well as a few additional touch-ups throughout. Frames are not warrantied for condition and are sold as is.
