The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The painting presents well overall. It is executed on a horizontally grained panel and is supported on the reverse by a cradle. The panel remains flat. There are minor losses and associated restorations visible along the extreme edges. There is a minor scratch in the background at upper left, running 1 ¼ inches vertically. An area of discolored restoration is visible above the left-most plum. Inspection under ultraviolet light further reveals touches of strengthening scattered throughout, primarily outlining the fruits and leaves, and in some of the darker tones of the still life elements. It appears that old varnish has been left over some of the signature. The painting can be hung in its present state.
