The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This canvas is lined and secure on a keyed strainer. The surface is slightly dirty. Inspection in natural light shows small touches of discolored restoration in the sky at upper left. Some small areas of the painting are abraded, especially in the brown background at right and in the green grapes in the basket at left. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals an uneven varnish that is opaque in some areas. There are some strokes of strengthening scattered in the darker tones and along the extreme edges. The painting can be hung in its present state.
