The British Museum in London holds in its collection a near identical scent bottle with suspension chain engraved on the collar Fic Boucheron made by the same maker (1978,1002.627).
This unusual and fascinating object is a good example of Frederic Boucheron's (1830-1902) inventiveness and ability to convert nature into jewelry. He is acknowledged for having introduced new designs featuring plants and organic shapes. Deeply interested in new ideas and inventions as well as traditional techniques, he liked to combine simple materials in entirely original ways; for example, rock crystal and wood were paired with the rarest gemstones, or as in this instance gold and glass.
