Limited first edition, with extra volume of publication material including Sauvage’s original watercolors; a finely-bound signed and inscribed by Blanchetière to Matilda Geddings Gray. No. 4 of 20 copies on japon.

Two volumes, quarto (227 × 170mm). 43 color illustration after watercolors by Sauvage, additional black-and-white copies of the illustrations, wrappers including backstrip bound in (few small stains). Full blue morocco signed by H. Blanchetière, dated 1931 and inscribed to “Miss M[atilda] G[eddings] Gray”, varicolor onlays depicting two different nightscapes in central compartments, second volume upper cover with additional nightscape onlay on upper cover and bouquet on lower cover, wide turn-ins tooled in gold with stars, doublures of blue and bronze silk with lozenge design, decorative paper endleaves, edges gilt, board edges filleted in gold (spines slightly sunned, bouquet onlays slightly lifting); decorative paper slip cases with morocco facings. Provenance: Matilda Geddings Gray (1885–1971; inscription on front free endpaper).
